Adairsville, Georgia, Leisure Time RV Park

September 24, 2016, Leisure Time RV park, Passport America,  $17.75 full hook ups,  We are heading south towards Florida. The trip from Huntsville to Adairsville was only 2.5 hours   It was through the mountains, lots of steep grades and windy roads.  This is just a stop off.  Nothing special here.   We are parked next to the office, no picnic table, no site, no space. We are just using the hook ups for Air conditioning.  We were going to stay at a harvest host location, but with high 90s, today  we wanted electricity.

Huntsville, Alabama, Yellow Hammer Brewery

September 23, 2016,   Yellow Hammer Brewery a Harvest host location, free.   Today we dove 4.5 hours to Huntsville,  Alabama.  During our drive today it was hot!, 98 degrees.   The sun was pounding through he big windshield and the dash ac does not work.   This has never been an issue before today.  We started the generator and both house ac units.   It took forever to get the rv cool.   We filled with diesel fuel, $2.34/ gal, $115 , 49 gallons, odometer reading is 47887, we are getting 7.84 mpg with the generator running.    During today's trip , that pesky  air leveling system in the back of the rv malfunctioned again.    It sounded as if we were driving on a rumble strip.  He observed that the metal tube had popped out of the rubber bushing we had just replaced in Buffalo.  He put a hose clamp on it and we were on the road again.   We arrived in Huntsville, we drove past a space and rocket center.   It had rockets and a space shuttle in the outdoors.   We went to Yellow hammer brewery and parked.   We went inside, the people were very nice.  We had some pizza and beer flights. It was so hot out that we went in the rv and just hung out, waiting for the sun to go down.  After the sun went down we went to the other brewery right next door.  It is called Straight to Ale brewery.  All of their beers have something to do with the rocket and space center.   We had a beer called Monkey naut.  It is named after the first american in space. She was a monkey, she is buried at the space center.   We went outside and listened to the music from the festival going on outside.  We brought Yogi out onto the lawn, he was quite popular.  This brought many people over to us, they wanted to pet yogi.    While talking to these people we discover some interesting information out.   I was talking to a couple,  Mason, is an astrophysicist, he works at the rocket center studying lightning and is a rap singer.  His date, Sara, is a professor of math at the local university .   Norm was talking with another couple,   they tell Norm that they own the brewery (straight to Ale), they want to join Harvest hosts with their brewery and took down the information.   The woman is retiring from NASA after working there for 30 years.   Apparently having rocket scientists all over the place is not unusual in this neighborhood.  They told us we could stay another night. After talking with them, we walked down the street a bit so I could get a hard cider at another brewery call Salty Nut Brewery.  We went home and slept well.   We could not stay another day.  Our livers would not like it.  

Campbellsville, KY - Green River Lake State Park

September 21, 2016 to September 23, 2016. BOGO at $28. So $14 a night. Water and 30 amp electric. Dump station on property. We have site 00.

On our trip today we bought fuel. $2.45 gallon. 44.73 gallons. $110.00. Mileage 47887.

Refrigerator door broke. We used some crazy glue and bigger screws to rescure the door. Seems to be working.

Romance, West Virginia, Rippling Waters Campground

September 19-20, 2016 West Virginia, Rippling Waters Church of God Campground, Passport America $20/night.  We are just driving through West Virginia because it was south of Ohio.   On the trip I cooked and cut all the vegetables we had bought at the farm we just left.  It was quite enjoyable.  Yogi just laid down in his driving spot. 
We drove 3.5 miles down a windy narrow country road from the highway  and arrived here.   Check in was pleasant.  We were given a spot near the lake.   It is relaxing here.   I wanted to stay an extra day to get postcards and blogging done.  By the way, our blogging app is not functioning currently.  I have blogged and had them erased, it won't take pictures and a host of other issues.  Norm is working on a fix for it. So right now I have to do things in many more confusing steps.  It is 82  degrees, with a forecast for high 80's all week.  I have been cooking since we arrived.  Full hook ups are a luxury when cooking.  Yogi was able to swim in the lake.
 

Madison, Ohio, Rainbow Farms

September 19, 2016.  Rainbow farms a harvest host location, free.  We arrived at the farm in the afternoon.  After a call to the owners we were instructed  where to drive the Rv. We went through a closed gate way back into a field with crops all around us.  After setting up the Rv, we went for a ride to see Lake Erie.  We went to a little town park.  We put our feet in the lake.  Once again amazed at the size of the  lake.  I just looked up a fact,  the lakes are 21 % of the earth's fresh water.  We returned to the farm had some dinner. Then the owners came to see us to visit with Yogi.  They  too had a big dog that passed away in May.  They loved Yogi.    The owners left and returned with a fresh picked watermelon for us.  We went to bed early.  We packed up to leave and stopped by their farm market.  Everything  was so inexpensive.   I bought many tomatoes, melons, onion,  garlic and spaghetti squash.  We chatted with the owners about expenses that farmers  have such as liability and workers comp Insurance.  We hit the road.  On the trip I decided to cook all the tomatoes into sauce for dinner tonight.    It smells so delicious in here now! 

Grand island, N.Y., Cinderella motel and campground

916-9/18. Passport America  $30.  This campground  was picked due to its location.  It's only 15 minutes  to Niagara falls.    The sites were ok.  They were level, small and adequate.  The staff very nice, the laundry and restrooms nice and clean.   There was a nice big grassy area to walk Yogi.

Niagara Falls, Canada

September 17, 2016

Norm and I both awoke early.   We decided to get an early start to get to the falls.  We arrived by 8 AM.   With passports in hand, we went through the turnstiles and across the Rainbow Bridge.  After walking over, we went through Canadian customs.   Then down the stairs and to a restaurant with a view of the falls for breakfast.  The restaurant was called " The Secret Garden" .  I, of course, ordered Canadian bacon.   Then, we crossed the street and walked down a meticulously clean street, with gorgeous flower gardens and lawns.   The Canadian side is so much fancier.  We went to the place where you can go behind the falls in a tunnel.   It was $18 each, and worth it! After entering an elevator, you are given raincoats, at the bottom you get out and head out to an observation deck at the bottom of the falls, It is off to the side, so you can see the edge , where the water drops over.  There is lots of over spray and you are wet in no time.   Afterwards, we walked down a tunnel behind the falls.  There are two tunnels that then turn left and head out to openings where the falls are rushing over.  There is nothing to see but a sheet of white.  It is the roar and power that is most notable.  Afterwards, we headed up the elevators and back out to the street.   We walked further down this walkway, towards a hydroelectric plant and besides the Niagara River with its Class 6 rapids.  Unfortunately, at this time Norm checked his email and discovered the part we needed for the RV was not delivered as we had ordered and paid for.   If we don't get it today, we will have to stay for 2 more days.   We turned around and hustled back to the bridge. We needed to pay 50 cents to cross.  Then to American customs.  There was a storm coming and it started to pour rain as we reached our car.   We had ten minutes to make it to UPS.  We made it to UPS , the delivery guy was just getting ready to lock the door.   He handed us the package.   We went home, picked up Yogi and went out for a ride.  the goal was to see Lake Ontario.   We drove for about an hour,, we went to a little park and put our feet in the Lake.  Impressed by how big the lake is.  Then we headed off to a little town and had lunch.  
 

  
 

Niagara Falls, N.Y., American side

September 16, 2016.  We made it to the falls!  We arrived in the evening.    It was cloudy  and  warm.   We drove around the block and found parking. Tonight it is free.   We scoped out where to walk to the Canada side. We didn't bring our passports tonight.  Then we walked through the park and up onto an observation  deck.  Our first thought was this is it!  We didn't realize that we couldn't see the horseshoe falls from where we were.  We walked down by the edge of the falls.  It was loud and  powerful sounding.  We took pictures, walked around  a bit. Then we headed back to the campground,  to get an early  start in the morning. We are coming  back to go to  the  Canada side.

Will we ever make it to Niagara Falls?

September 16, 2016,  We left our overnight spot to head west towards Buffalo.  It was a 2 hour trip. Unfortunately on the way the rv had a mechanical mishap. Norm thiught we had a flat tire. There was no flat tire, but the rear automatic leveling  system had a piece break. This is the same thing  Norm had has fixed in Texas with a hose clamp. This time it broke off.  We drove the rv very slowly to a rest stop 2 miles ahead.  At the rest area Norm superglued it back together.    This seemed to work as a temporary  solution.     Upon our arrival  at the campground,  we researched and ordered the part from Spartan chassis.    The part was $1.50, shipping  was $50.  We wanted overnight delivery. 

Buffalo, N.Y., Anchor bar vs. Duff's

9/16/2016.; We finally made it to Buffalo, N.Y.. for some original buffalo wings.First we went to Anchor Bar, the proclaimed originator  chicken wings. We went inside took our seats in the dining room. It is a quaint, old bar. Lots of history, pictures of famous and common people cover the walls.& We ordered 20 medium wings with a beer each. They were just what one would expect for buffalo

wings. Next, we went to Duff's, self proclaimed competitors with Anchor bar. We went in took our seats and ordered 10 medium wings and fries. Unfortunately our mission to compare the two was not planned

well. I was full.  I tried one wing.  It was similar to the other place, just mildly tangier.Norm did his best to eat them , but he too was full. There was not a significant difference between the two.
