Over the past few years we have researched living in an RV full time, this included getting a truck camper, then getting a 36' Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite trailer.
We have hardly used these campers, however they did convince us that we needed to pursue getting a drive-able RV. We were not interested in driving around in a truck while towing a camper. We wanted to tow a car that we could drive when we got to our destinations.
We began looking at different classes of RV's. We looked at Class C's, a few Class B's (way too small for us and our two big dogs) and then some Class A's (out of our budget, so we thought). As we got a better feel for what was available, we noticed a lot of the available RV's seemed designed to live an occasional weekend in, not for full timing, also quite a few seem to be poorly made, sort of thrown together with very cheap materials.
Then in August 2013 we found ourselves in Largo, Florida, and we had some time to kill, so we looked up the RV dealers in the area and went browsing. We checked an RV dealer that sells used RV's (R.V. World Inc.). This particular day it was about 105 degrees and extreme humidity. The RV's were ovens! We wandered through some of the RV's that were more in our budget and still felt like they were too cheaply made to live in full time. They happened to have one Class A onsite that was for sale (2001 Gulf Stream Yellowstone). We asked to see that one, sort of as a comparison.
We immediately agreed this was the RV we were looking for!
We then went to other dealers and wandered through some more. We ended up back at this RV and looked again. We agreed, again, we would wait.
Over the next couple of weeks we went to an RV show in Rhode Island. All this did was help convince us that the one we had loved in Florida was the one we needed!
Next thing we knew we had purchased it!! One month after we saw our RV we flew back to Florida and began our journeys in our new (to us!) RV!!
