Kalija died

April  18, 2016  Kalija hadn't been feeling well.   Between his achey  body,  his intolerance to walking  and eating dirt,  we needed to take him in to the vet.   We brought him to Old Lyme Vet.    He had an appointment  for Thursday,  but,  when I called  Monday,  I told them he needed to be seen sooner.   Norm and I took him in at 1115.   The vet knew right  away things were bad.    On first glance,  he had a guess that Kalija had a sarcoma of his spleen.   X-rays and bloodwork confirmed this diagnosis.    It was shocking news,  we already  knew things weren't good.   We just didn't realize it was this bad.    Norm  and the vet discussed euthanasia.   Norm said not until  after he takes  Kalija out for burgers.   We took Kalija to burger King,  then to Gorton pond.   Kalija ate his bacon double cheeseburgers,  he drank  nice cold pond water.   We took him  for a ride with  the windows down and returned to the vets.  We sat outside under a tree in nice soft green grass.    The  vet agreed to come outside to let us and Kalija be as comfortable  as possible.    We laid down with Kalija and they gave him a sedative.   Kalija left  this world hearing Norm telling he he is such a good boy.   And that he was.   Not a mean bone in  him.    Loyal to the end.   We will  miss him!

April 16, 2016  Lake Williams campground  $210/week.    We left Mohegan sun Poconos at 800 am.   Arriving at. My parents house at 1230pm.  The ride was uneventful,  except a toll  in New York.   We recall it being . 75 cents.   Today it was  $10 for the Rv towing a car.   $1.50 for my car and the microwave  came open and the glass tray fell  out and broke.    After arriving at my parents,  we hugged,  had coffee  and Norm took the tow bars and his car off the Rv.    He and my dad agreed to take the subaru to the Massachusetts dealer on Tuesday.    After our reunion  Norm and I headed to our  campground for the next two weeks.    There was slim pickings at this time of year.    We arrived and checked in.  Filled the propane at $45 .   Our site is mediocre,  not level,  not to private,  but no big deal.   We are tired.    Walked the dogs.    They love the lake,  Kalija even went in.    We ate dinner and hit the sack.   BTW  coin operated Showers!!!

Mount Airy, NC

April 11, 2016  Mayberry Campground  in Mount Airy NC (17.50 per day  passport America) .   Today was a good  day!   We  left and had a 3 hr ride  North.  We  received  an anticipated email with great   news.    After checking in,  we went to the town of  Mayberry  from the Andy Griffith show.     We paid $6 to tour the Andy Griffith Museum ,  not worth it.   We then strolled around  Mayberry.    We  bought some soda pop at Opie's candy store.   Most of the show  related  businesses were closed.    Not worth   returning to tomorrow.   We did go to the Mayberry  Courthouse,  this was free.    This part was fun.    We took turns in the jail cell and at sheriff  Andy's  desk.    Afterwards we returned  and took the  dogs for a walk in the  campground.    There are 2 ponds and that made them happy.    Then we worked on our schedule  for the next five days.

Columbia, SC

April 7, 8 we are currently on a detour from  our original  trek.    Our visit to Huff will  need to  wait  for another time.    Our current  location is  for business and  luckily my friend Keera  lives here.   So some pleasure mixed in.    I  went the first  day to see her husband,  Tom  and  her twins,  Jack and Sara.    It was great  to  see them.   They are  five years  old and so sweet.     They  love that we live in  a  house on wheels.      I  visited for a couple  of  hours.     I  returned  to  Barnyard RV Park in Lexington.     ($30  per night).     We made arrangements  to  return  visit  with  Keeras family  again.    The next day  I went shopping  for  treats for the kids.    We  visited  until  late.    After  a great   night of  sleep.    I  took  Yogi  for a off leash walk at a school  down the road.    He has been not getting enough exercise since Kalija  is just no longer  up to  it.     When  I returned,  Norm had chosen our next campground  32 minutes away and North in the  general  direction  of CT.

Ashburn, Georgia

There is  not much here!   We went to  see the Museum Crime and Punishment.  It's closed until  Tuesday.  So we will  not be seeing  it.    I  am going to post pictures  and  hours for future  reference.  There are no restaurants.  Just many many churches.  We went to  a smoked meat store called Carrol's sausage and Country store.  Just off  I75.  Norm was in heaven and bought alot of meat.  Since we are both on the Atkins diet this was a good  stop!

Wanee Lake Golf and RV resort

We are in Asburn,  Georgia.    We looked  on passport America, found  a campground for $16.50 a night.  We are enjoying  it.  We will  stay another  day.   There is a large pool,  hot tub,  full  hook ups.     There is a clubhouse  with a bar,  pool table and big screen TV.    We met some full-time RVers  from Canada.  They have told us about a Parkway with free camping while heading  north.    I  finally got to use my washer dryer combo.  But, unfortunately,  it wouldn't  work.  Norm looked up online and  got the repair technician  manual.  He followed  some trouble  shooting steps  and discovered it was a door switch.  He bypassed it for now.  I can do laundry,  yeah!  I  am also using  my dishwasher, all at the same time.  Today we will  head into the local  town.  There is a museum called,  Crime and Punishment.  It is an old jail.    Don't  know  what else is  around  here.  We will  find out!

Island Grove winery, Ocala area, Florida

This is a harvest host  location, so free!  We called  ahead because it says there is only one RV spot.  It was available.  We arrived  at 3:15 pm.  We had a tour of the winery and observed  their blueberry  growing area.    We purchased  a bottle of  blueberry  Moscato (for future use).   The place closed  at 4 pm.    We are all alone in rural  area.  Yeah!    Yogi and Kalija  could run  around .   Yogi  looks so happy.    We had dinner on  the porch.     We had a nice night.    Once it became dark,  the large amount of mosquitoes  snuck  in to the Rv because  I stupidly  left the door open.    The manager was very nice and told us to call  her if we had any problems.    She showed us a blueberry  vodka  made with  blueberries grown right there.    It was not able to be purchased.    We took  notes and  directions  so we could  go purchase  it.    In the morning  we took  the dogs  out for  a  walk.  Unfortunately,  it was raining  and  thunderstorms.   We were concerned  about  the  grass getting  muddy  and we did  not want a repeat mud stuck episode.   So  we closed up and moved on .  I made breakfast and we hit the road.

Leaving Fort Desoto

We have left after being  here for 7 months.   We have met  many new friends.  Had many get togethers and campfires, including our wedding.   We have been on site 129,  a great site,  but 128 is our favorite,  it is huge,  private  and has spectacular  sunsets.     We were also  on site 99 it's bright,  waterfront,  but there is public water access  right  in front of  the site, so less private.
